The dawn of your identity

Listened to our podcast and find yourself wondering how you can live into your specified call and identity? We’ve been there, and we invite you into a simple but profound process. Welcome to the dawn of your identity.

This exercise is meant to be done in a mediative space with the Lord. Pause, hear from Him, trust His ability to speak to you uniquely, and don’t rush. We suggest you journal, draw or write down what you are hearing, seeing and/or processing with Him. Consider this a starting place, as identity is meant to be nurtured and sharpened through obedience, belief and community.

QUESTIONS

  • What do I find myself having endless energy for?

    • What do you find yourself enjoying so much so that you could blink and several hours passes by? What are things you find energizing? I.e- meeting new people, reviving or recreating a space, service, strategizing, peacemaking, collaborating, etc.

  • What are characteristics or names friends and family have spoken over you that you find agreeable and life-giving?

    • Has close community ever called you something that landed in your heart? These would have gone beyond flattering words to you, but more so felt like a gift to your spirit. I.e- hospitable, present minded, empowering, creative, masterful, motherly, etc.

  • Do you find regular lies trying to combat those characteristics?

    • Do lies surface that seem to plague you? Do they openly contradict the words that have been spoken over you (that you agree with)? Do you find yourself wrestling with the lies that tell you arent enough?

    • Time a moment to notice and name some of those lies (I.e- rejected, fearful, less than, etc.) After recognizing these things you’ve partnered with, practicing handing them to the Lord in your mind, while telling Him you’re sorry for picking the accusation of the enemy. Ask Him to show you where, when or how you’ve agreed with the lies and sever that tie.

  • When pausing to receive his words, what do you hear the Lord calling you?

    • I.e- a magnetic empower-er, joyful rescuer, strategic ambassador, loyal teammate, just craftsman leader.

  • How can I begin to or increase my ability to walk as my true self in the spheres I touch?

    • After being named by the Lord, ask Him if there’s any way you can begin to activate yourself more fully. Is there something that needs to be initiated, cut out, applied for? Is there someone you need to call and tell?

    • Whatever the setting, begin to ask God to show you how to walk in your true identity wherever your feet are. I.e- how can you be a worshiper at work, a mother in your art studio, an ambassador as you walk your neighborhood?

From the genesis of conception a name was given to the spirit that your bones house.

This commencement of a new image bearing being is almost always feared by the enemy. In an attempt to preserve himself, he viciously claws and scrapes at the fabric of who we are.

Often convinced of his lies, we as individuals find ourselves unsure of what we were created for.

But a tender handed father wove fibers and atoms into place with intention. In the midst of chaos or confusion, He speaks and all else seems to fall sleeping-forest silent.

The one who named us, knows us. And with ease, we find ourselves living more fully into not only who He deemed us to be, but His complete embrace.
